Little is known about the metabolic reprogramming process or the role extracellular nutrients play in the activation response. Here we demonstrate that there are distinct requirements for the nutrients L-glutamine and glucose during activation. We show that cells activated in glucose-depleted conditions are still able to undergo growth and signaling events.
