Analysis and comparison of web-based content management systems

In this thesis we select 3 of the most popular open-source and 2 proprietary content management systems (CMS), which we compare with each other with the help of a multi-attribute decision method called DEX. Before we start comparing our selection we describe the basic properties of different kinds of CMS systems in general, then we determine which one of them will be focused on and what kind of user’s point of view will be considered in this work. In the following chapter we describe the major properties of our selected systems and begin with the decision making process, which we divide into 4 phases - first we identify the problem and the alternatives, then we decompose our problem and start modeling a decision support system, where we define the criteria, the preferences and the risk which could be caused by our final decision. For the making of the model we use a computer program named DEXi, which also helps us in the fourth phase - the evaluation of alternatives and analysis, which are the basis for our selection of the product that will satisfy our needs and requirements
