Radio-frequency identification in libraries

The purpose of the (diploma) thesis is to develop an application needed for libraries which want to swap from barcode tagging to the system of tagging with RFID tags. Another part of the application includes a support for the software usually used in libraries. This way their working process would remain almost the same so they could carry on using their already existing software. The thesis presents the history and basic facts about the RFID technology. It explains what a RFID tag means and represents which of the RFID types are available. Furthermore, the development of different standards including their description is presented. All hardware used for the application is described along with the instructions for the correct usage of RFID reader HF mouse RDL5 on which the application is based on. The thesis also discusses the development of the application, the technologies which are used for it and problems which have occurred during its development. The last part of the work presents the future of RFID technology, along with the troubles that might occur using this technology on daily basis. Here, more detailed future plans for libraries are presented. The thesis also discusses the options to use the RFID technology for the simplification of the working process for library employees and members. (In conclusion,) the ideas about next steps in development of the application are presented
