This thesis focuses on the political representation of women. It is concerned with the extent to which gender is a relevant factor in political representation. In in-depth interviews, fifty grassroots women members of the Queensland Labor Party participating in this study described their thoughts and feelings about a range of issues relating to the representation of women. The women were recruited through use of ‘snowball’ or ‘network’ sampling and represented a range of ages, backgrounds, party roles/ affiliations, and lengths of party membership.
