Background: Given increasing population prevalence of physical inactivity and poor diet, and associated overweight/obesity and lifestyle-related diseases (i.e.type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers), development of population-based approaches to address these key health behaviours is imperative. Telephone-delivered interventions for physical activity and/or dietary change, and weight loss are promising in this regard.
