Construction of Co(II) coordination polymers with flexible carboxylate ligands: structural and magnetic studies

Two Co(II) coordination polymers [Co(3-pmna)(2)(H2O)(2)](n), (1) and {[Co-2(4-pmna)(4)(H2O)]center dot 0.25H(2)O}(n) (2), where 3-Hpmna = 2-(3-pyridylmethylthio)nicotinic acid and 4-Hpmna = 2-(4-pyridylmethylthio)nicotinic acid, were synthesized and fully characterized. 1 displays chain structure, while 2 exhibits 3D coordination network composed of dimer units.
