Metal ions doped polyoxometalate (POM) microtubes (M-SiW(12); M=Zn(2+)center dot Cd(2+)) have been synthesized in aqueous solution by a simple method. The microtubes were characterized by FT-IR, UV/Vis, XPS, elemental analysis, and their morphology was examined by ESEM-FEG. The Zn(2+) or Cd(2+) doped in POM microtubes were chelated with 8-hydroxyquinoline, to obtain novel POM microtubes (MQ(2)-SiW(12)) with fluorescence. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
