En skola för alla : Några gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av grundtanken en skola för alla –sett ur ett stämplingsteoretiskt perspektiv

The aim of the study was to find out about pupil’s opinions about the concept “oneschool for everyone” and about handicap and pupil with special needs in schoolenvironment. The study was carried out through interviews with 12 pupils, 10 boysand 2 girls. The interviews were made with two pupils at the same time. Theinterviewed pupils were finishing their second year of high school. The result of thestudy showed that pupils in high school have a deficient experience about theconcept of “one school for everyone”. In spite of this they showed a similar viewwith what the guidelines and the curriculums states about the concept. The resultsshowed that the interviewed pupils have a positive view on handicap but believesthat other people are depreciatory towards these pupils. Some expressed a view onhandicapped individuals as normal people just like anyone but other had the opinionthat handicapped individuals could be a problem, a disturbing moment. Views onhandicap are dependent on factors such as the kind of handicap and age. The resultsshowed that there existed an opinion that expressed that younger individuals had amore negative view on handicap than older individuals. The results also showed thatpupil have a positive view on the concept of “one school for everyone” but at thesame time expresses difficulties with achieving the concept. Due to the pupilsinclusion of pupils with special needs could adventure the “normal groups”education. Extended workload for the teacher because of increasing level differencesin the classes was another difficulty. Due to the pupils would the way to cope with hedifficulties would be to increase the number of teachers in the classrooms. Anotherresult was that pupils label handicapped individuals and pupil with special needs intheir use of language. In language use pupils states that handicapped individuals andpupils with special needs don’t belong to the normal kind.
