Shrinkage porosity and metal expansion penetration are two fundamental defects appearing at production ofcomplex shaped lamellar cast iron components. In previous work it has been shown that both shrinkageporosity and metal expansion penetration are related to the primary austenite dendrite network and itsformation mechanisms.
