International audienceWhen one talks about literature, whether oral or written, and development, one thinks about the practical use to which one can put literature in a ‘developing’ country. A teacher may think about analyses of texts; a grammarian may think about exercises to be formulated on the basis of texts; a professor of ethics may think about parts of texts that she/he could extract from proverbs and stories, etc. Even if all those usages are perfectly legitimate, one should not stop there because students would soon become disgusted by their patrimony.
