International audienceThe book Beyrouth, Grand Beyrouth finds its origin in a questionning of the reconstruction of the Lebanese capital in the aftermath of Taif agreements. To stand out from the polemics that feed the day-today debates, this book proposes an historical perspective. It considers the reconstruction as a moment of acceleration of urban changes. Thus, it closely associates the approaches of geographers and those of historians of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
