Шатобриан и Россия

The article is mainly based on a reading of the Mémoires d'outre-tombe and some other works by Chateaubriand (Le Congrès de Vérone, De Buonaparte et des Bourbons) to sketch a study of the writer's relations with Russia. It shows that the question of exile in Russia has arisen at least four times in the career of Chateaubriand without ever, in the end, he has stayed in this country. On the other hand, his political engagements and his diplomatic career led him to enter into relations with Russian diplomats and statesmen, including Tsar Alexander Iᵉʳ. The political role of Russia in the first decades of the nineteenth century and the relations between this country and France hence occupy a significant place in his work, which contrasts with the very small presence of Russian literature.L'article se base principalement sur une lecture des Mémoires d'outre-tombe ainsi que de quelques autres œuvres de Chateaubriand (le Congrès de Vérone, la brochure De Buonaparte et des Bourbons) pour ébaucher une étude sur les relations de l'écrivain avec la Russie. Il montre que la question d'un exil en Russie s'est posée au moins quatre fois dans la carrière de Chateaubriand sans que jamais, au final, il n'ait séjourné dans ce pays. Ses engagements politiques et sa carrière diplomatique l'ont conduit en revanche à entrer en relation avec des diplomates et hommes d'État russes, dont le tsar Alexandre Iᵉʳ. Le rôle politique de la Russie dans les premières décennies du XIXᵉ siècle et les relations entre ce pays et la France occupent ainsi une place non négligeable dans son œuvre, qui contraste avec la très faible présence de la littérature russe.Статья в основном основана на чтении «Замогильные записки» и некоторых других работ Шатобриана (О Бонапарте, Веронский конгресс), чтобы набросать исследование отношений писателя с Россия.
