Chief Executive Officers (CEO) remuneration has been a hot topic the last couple of years and has brought a great amount of attention in the media, when some companies have increased the CEO’s compensation even though the firm have been reporting lower earnings. Bonus systems have recently become more frequent to increase CEOs incentives, but have also been a disputed subject since the financial crisis in 2008. The aim of this thesis is to study the relation between CEO compensation and companies’ size as well as performance.
