This paper is based on a qualitative textbook analysis aiming to investigate what image four selected textbooks, designed for religious education course 1 in Swedish upper secondary school, gives about the Swedish citizen in relation to religion and Christianity, focused on Protestant and Orthodox orientations. And further discuss if it is recognizable and associated with the social context Swedish students live in today. This by examining how the textbooks describe religion, the contemporary religiosity in Sweden and the construction of Christian Protestants in relation to Orthodox Christians .
