This article aims at looking into the educational policies in Mozambique in what concerns the implementation of bilingual teaching, which has been a central topic of discussion in Africa since the 90s. The single language policy is questioned for its effectivity given its linguistic and socio-economic repercussions for the population. Apart from these considerations, the text also compares advantages and drawbacks stemming from the two main models of bilingual teaching, currently being discussed in Africa and in Mozambique.
