<p>(A) The relative proportions of saturated, monounsaturated (MUFA), and cyclopropane fatty acids in four <i>E. coli</i> strains. <i>E. coli</i> lawns were washed off of NGM plates. Pelleted bacteria were derivatized to produce fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) for gas chromatography analysis. Error bars are standard deviation, n = 4−5 independent growths.
