Histology showed strong signs of inflammation in IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP mice.

<p>Gnotobiotic IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP mice were associated with <i>C. jejuni</i> by oral gavage (10⁸ cfu/mouse) for 14 days. Mice were euthanized and different parts of the colon were paraffin-embedded and used for H&E staining. Histological analysis of <i>C. jejuni</i>-associated IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP and IL-10^wt/wt; NF-κB^EGFP was performed as described in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0007413#s2" target="_blank">Materials and Methods</a>. Histological score revealed statistical significant difference between IL-10^wt/wt; NF-κB^EGFP and IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP associated with <i>C. jejuni</i> (cecum *p = 0.003, prox *p = 0.004, dist *p = 0.003). IL-10^wt/wt; NF-κB^EGFP: n = 8, IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP: n = 4, IL-10^wt/wt; NF-κB^EGFP<i>C. jejuni</i> associated: n = 13, IL-10^−/−; NF-κB^EGFP<i>C. jejuni</i> associated: n = 12.
