Production levels of PSM-mec in <i>S. epidermidis</i> infection and colonizing skin isolates.

<p>PSM-mec concentrations (at 8 h of growth) in <i>S. epidermidis</i> isolates from a Shanghai strain collection <a href="http://www.plospathogens.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.ppat.1000533#ppat.1000533-Gu1" target="_blank">[19]</a> obtained from the skin of healthy individuals without recent exposure to hospitals, or from <i>S. epidermidis</i> infections (mainly catheter-related, blood, and urinary tract infections) were determined by RP-HPLC/ESI-MS. Determined concentrations of δ-toxin in the strains are shown in comparison.
