Effect of central TNF blockade on pro-and anti-inflammatory cytokine expression.

<p>Chronic Ang II infusion significantly increased the expression of TNF (<b>A</b>), IL-6 (<b>B</b>), IL-1β (<b>C</b>), and the chemokine MCP-1 (<b>D</b>) in the PVN. This increase in PIC expression was attenuated in rats treated with etanercept. Furthermore, Ang II infusion significantly decreased the mRNA expression of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 in the PVN (<b>E</b>) and plasma (<b>F</b>) compared with controls.
