<p>Five groups of age matched rats (5–7 rats/group) weighing ∼50gm were treated intraperitoneally with 100mg/kg STZ to render them diabetic. Two days after STZ treatment, rats were intravenously injected with indicated dose of TA1m at high pressure. In this experiment, four TA1m doses, 0.25 µg/gm body weight, 0.50 µg/gm body weight, 0.75 µg/gm body weight, and 1.0 µg/gm body weight, were used. A group of untreated diabetic rats and a group of normal rats were included as controls. Blood glucose levels and body weights of each rat were recorded daily; the measurements were alternated between rats fasted and fed <i>ad libitum</i>.
