<div><p>Background</p><p>The fungal pathogen, <i>Beauveria bassiana</i>, is an efficient biocontrol agent against a variety of agricultural pests. A thorough understanding of the basic principles of insect-fungus interactions may enable the genetic modification of <i>Beauveria bassiana</i> to enhance its virulence.
