During various faults in a high voltage direct current (HVDC) system, the voltage gets reduced, which in turn results into commutation failure, which can deteriorate the availability of HVDC links and thus affect the performance of the power system. In this paper, efforts are made to ride through these faults and so to lower the effect of commutation failure on the power system, and the remedy is implemented by using a robust control algorithm which utilizes a new space vector modulation-based strategy. The validity and effectiveness of the control algorithm are verified by PSCAD/EMTDC-based simulation which shows that with the proposed control, the system can operate steadily, has the capability to restore steady state condition when short...
