Understanding the role environmental factors may play in the dietary behaviours of socioeconomic groups is relevant for efforts to reduce health inequalities. In contrast with international research, earlier findings from the Brisbane Food Study (BFS), Australia, found no relationship between area socioeconomic characteristics and dietary behaviours or location of food shops. This paper examines whether the price and availability of fruits and vegetables are socioeconomically patterned using data from the BFS.
