Desain Eksperimen Pewarna Alam Batik Propagul Mangrove dengan Tingkat Ketahanan Luntur Warna yang Baik dengan Bantuan Zat Fiksatif Tawas

Batik industry contributes to environmental pollution caused by the heavy use of synthetic substances as dye batik fabrics. Therefore the alternatives that can be used as a substitute for synthetic dyes are the use of natural dyes. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as a batik fabric dye is an extract of mangrove propagules. The dye with good quality for consumers is a dye that is not easy to fade. While the lack of natural dyes is not all natural dyes are able to color the fabric fibers directly, so that the resulted color will easily fade. To overcome this, dyeing natural dyes on fabric required fixation or locking process. In the process of fixation, it is needed additional material which is called as fixator (locking substance) made of metal salts. Fixator substance that is used in the study is alum. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the fixator\u27s concentration and the length process of dyeing fabric in the process of fixation toward the fade resilience of mangrove propagules natural dye on cotton cloth using a factorial experimental design methods. Based on the experimental results the obtained dye color which is produced by mangrove propagules on cotton fabric is bright brownish pink color. Fabric samples that have the optimal color fastness are shown on the sample fabric with alum concentration of 100 g/l and the length of fixation is 5 minutes. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that the more the concentration of alum or the longer fixation time used to further improve color fastness.
