<p>Ring stage parasites were cultured in the presence of DMSO (control) or chloroquine or indicated inhibitors (21.7 µM E64, 0.024 µM epoxomicin, 0.133 µM MG132; concentrations are nearly 3 times the IC<sub>50</sub>) for one cycle, and then without any treatment for next two cycles as described in the Materials and Methods section. Parasite growth was measured at the end of each cycle using the SYBR Green-1 dye. The results with standard deviation error bars from three independent experiments, each in triplicate, are shown as arbitrary fluorescence units of the dye.
