In human beings, there is strong evidence that hypertriglyceridemia is associated with an increased risk for pancreatitis. Miniature Schnauzers with fasting hypertriglyceridemia have a higher risk of pancreatitis. The association of hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis has not been well characterized in other dogs.
