<p>Results are shown as means of log<sub>10</sub> (number of bacteria.g<sup>−1</sup> of fresh root) ± standard deviation. Maize plantlets were inoculated with <i>H. seropedicae</i> strains and the number of attached bacteria determined. The numbers of epiphytic and endophytic cells were also determined 1, 4, 7 and 10 days after inoculation (d.a.i.). Different letters indicate significant differences at p<0.01 (Student <i>t</i> test).</p
