31% wild type cells in <i>Cybb^−/−</i>mice are sufficient to reduce systemic loads of <i>S</i>.Tm^avir.

<p><i>Cybb</i>^−/− mice were irradiated and reconstituted with a mix of C57BL/6 Ly5.1 and <i>Cybb</i>^−/− Ly5.2 bone marrow (mixed BMC). Mice were pretreated with streptomycin and infected for 4 days with <i>S</i>.Tm^avir. The bacterial loads in the gut lumen (A), the degree of mucosal inflammation (B) and bacterial loads in the mLNs (C), livers (D) and spleens (E) were analyzed. The data for the C57BL/6 and <i>Cybb</i>^−/− mice were replotted from Fig. 2 for a better comparison. Relative mRNA expression levels were compared between bone marrow chimeras and similarly treated <i>Cybb</i>^−/− mice, data partly replotted from <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0077204#pone.0077204.s004" target="_blank">Fig. S4G</a> for a better comparison (F).
