<p>Environmental variables included in the final model, based on forward selection were: logarithm of flowering stalk abundance of <i>Ranunculus acris</i> (log R. acris), logarithm of flowering stalk abundance of <i>Sanguisorba oficinalis</i> (log S. officinalis), and 1^st axis of DCA of flowering plant composition (vegetation 1); plots were categorized according to the sector in which they were located(see <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0077361#pone-0077361-g001" target="_blank">Fig. 1</a> for definition of sectors); 1^st ordination axis explains 34.7% of total variability in pollinator density, 2^nd axis explains 15.2%.
