<p>The proteolytic activity of C-SVMP (0.5 µg) on the FRET peptide (Abz-FRSSRQ-EDDnp - 5 µM in PBS) was determined in the presence or absence of 15 mM of phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) or 1,10 phenanthroline (Phen). Reactions were carried out at 37°C using a fluorescence spectrophotometer (λ<sub>em</sub> = 420 nm and λ<sub>em</sub> = 320 nm). All assays were performed in duplicate and the specific proteolytic activity was expressed as micromoles of cleaved substrate <i>per</i> minute <i>per</i> µg of protein (U/µg).</p
