(<b>2</b>) Hydroxylation of Hif1-α promotes binding of the Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL)-E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, promoting poly-ubiquitination and (<b>3</b>) degradation via the 26S proteasome complex.
