Toll-like Receptor (TLR) mRNA expression in pig gastric mucosa.

<div><p>Expression of <i>TLR2</i> (A-C), <i>TLR3</i> (D-F), <i>TLR4</i> (G-I) and <i>TLR5</i> (J-L) mRNA expression was determined in three sites of the gastric mucosa of piglets during the suckling period (14, 21 and 28 days of age) and after weaning (42 days of age). </p> <p>TLRs expression was modulated during development in the oxyntic mucosa, where <i>TLR2</i> decreased after weaning (P=0.038) and <i>TLR4</i> linearly increased during suckling (P=0.008), and in the cardiac-to-oxyntic mucosa, where <i>TLR2</i> linearly increased during suckling (P=0.003). For the three gastric sites, no significant quadratic effect during suckling was detected (<i>P</i>>0.05).</p>
