Optimal placement of wind generators is essential, as inappropriate placement may increase the system losses. This paper proposes a methodology for finding the optimal size and location for connecting wind type distributed generation (DG) in primary distribution systems for minimizing real power loss in the system. The characteristic of wind turbine generation is represented by an analytical expression, which is used to solve DG sizing and placement problem. Exact loss formula is used to find the loss in the system. The proposed methodology is tested in 33-bus and 69-bus radial distribution systems. The effect of optimal DG placement on system voltage profile and branch currents is also investigated and reported
