<p>Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients and normal control (NC) subjects from the Chaoshan region in this study, together with reported Chaoshan populations [42.43] and other Han Chinese populations across China from published sources were included for analysis based on their mtDNA haplogroup frequencies. △ denotes southern Han populations, ◊ denotes northern Han populations, *denotes the Chaoshan populations.
