Detection of irisin and FNDC5 in bovine and murine skeletal muscle.

<p>Western blot of M. longissimus of bulls with high (H) or low (L) muscularity with an antibody against full-length irisin (upper panel). M: murine M. quadriceps femoris. The red arrow marks irisin at ∼12 kDa.The blot was stripped and re-incubated with an antibody against the C-terminus of FNDC5 (lower panel). A single, specific band was detected in bovine and murine muscle. Alpha-tubulin was used for normalization. No differences were found between the groups “low” and “high muscularity” (0.92±0.07 vs. 1.10±0.14; p = 0.27).
