<p>Whole cell extracts were prepared from wild type and <i>hog1Δ</i> mutants treated with 1 M sorbitol for the indicated time, resolved by 8% SDS-PAGE, and probed with anti-SUMO (<i>top panel</i>) or anti-phospho-Hog1 (<i>middle panel</i>) antibodies. The specificity of SUMO antibody was established by previous work and was further confirmed by cell extracts from SUMO E2-defective mutant cells (<i>data not shown</i>).
