Quantification of released by activated neutrophils.

<p>(<b>A,B</b>) HNE was measured in treated supernatants using a standard curve. Measured concentrations of HNE were significantly higher in the supernatants of neutrophils treated with <i>Lu. longipalpis</i> SGE and rLundep. (<b>C</b>) Intracellular load of Lm-RFP in human neutrophils. Viable Lm-RFP promastigote counts were performed 3 days post treatment. Neutrophil infection was significantly increased in the presence of all stimuli when compared to medium (control) treated samples. The assays were performed in triplicate. Mean and SEM are shown. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
