ANR upregulates the expression of the <i>katA</i> gene.

<p>The Δ<i>anr</i> mutant harboring plasmid pHERD<i>anr</i>, in which the expression of ANR is under the arabinose-inducible P_BAD promoter, was cultured anaerobically for 24 hrs in LBN supplemented with increasing concentration of arabinose up to 1%. Cultures were sampled for optical cell density (OD₆₀₀) measurements (dotted line) and catalase activity (white bar). The experiment was performed three times independently and the standard deviation error bars are shown.
