Schematic time course of a scanning session.

<p>The participants underwent 4 scanning sessions in succession. Each session consisted of 6 ON-blocks (with presentation of body odor) and 6 OFF-blocks (with presentation of odor-free, pure cotton pad), resulting in a total of 12 blocks. During each block, the stimuli were presented for a period of 1 s with an interstimulus interval of 2 s. Each block had a duration of 22 s, during which 8 scans were conducted.
