The pUR4 fibronectin polymerization inhibitor enhances the expression of luciferase reporter constructs.

<p>SMC were transfected with luciferase reporter constructs containing the promoter/enhancer region of SM αactin, calponin, or SM22. Cells were co-transfected with a β-gal reporter gene. Cells were processed as described in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0094988#s2" target="_blank">methods</a>, and the levels of luciferase quantitated using a FLUOstar OPTIMA plate reader. Luciferase levels were normalized to Lac Z levels. Data represents the mean of 3 replicate samples, and error bars the s.d. *p<.05. This experiment was repeated 4 times with similar results.
