<p><b>A:</b> Adherent human monocytes were stimulated with <i>S. aureus</i> strains: e.g. SA113 and its isogenic mutant Δ<i>lgt</i>, which is deficient in lipoprotein maturation. Secreted IL-6 (left) and TNF (right) concentrations were quantified in the supernatants.
