The hydrothermal treatment of a titanium plate in a mixed aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide and aqueous phosphoric acid under different conditions results in the formation of various titanium phosphate thin films. The films have various crystal structures such as Ti<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>(H<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>·2H<sub>2</sub>O, α-titanium phosphate (Ti(HPO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O), π-titanium phosphate (Ti<sub>2</sub>O(PO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O), or low-crystallinity titanium phosphate and different morphologies that have not been previously reported such as nanobelts, microflowers, nanosheets, nanorods, or nanoplates.
