As life expectancy increases and the population ages around the globe, older individuals are experiencing less physical decline and greater health and self-assessed well being than in the past few decades. One of the key factors in health and quality of life is physical activity. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the relationship between physical activity, health and quality of life for older adults. Recommendations for therapeutic recreation practice are included. Importantly, this paper seeks to exemplify the key role that therapeutic recreation can play in this regard.
