Until 31 March 2011, Mayotte was not an overseas department of France and separate figures for continental shelf were not attainable. The figure used as a conservative proxy is the size of its lagoon <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0103000#pone.0103000-INSEE1" target="_blank">[123]</a>.</p>6<p>South Africa only includes KwaZulu Natal, the Province that borders the WIO.
