Thrombin causes neurite retraction in differentiated PC12 cells.

<p>PC12 cells were seeded and cultured as described in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0103530#s2" target="_blank">Materials and Methods</a>. After treatment with NGF (100 ng/ml) for 72 hours to induce differentiation, cells were exposed to thrombin (I unit/ml). Cells were then analyzed by time-lapse microscopy (Olympus 1X17). The numbers on the top right corner of every panel indicate the time (min) after addition of thrombin. The experiment was repeated four times.
