Aldosterone induced galectin-3 expression mainly through MRs in human monocyte cell line THP-1.

<p>THP-1 cells (1×10⁶ cells/ml) were serum-starved for 24 h, and then treated with 10⁻⁷ M of spironolactone or 10⁻⁷ M of RU-486 for 1 h followed by 10⁻⁶ M aldosterone or vehicle treatment for 24 h. The cell culture supernatants were then collected for galectin-3 detection by enzyme immunoassay. Comparison is between the indicated groups. *P<0.05. MR = mineralocorticoid receptor.
