<p>Renal and hepatic complex 1-dependent state 2, 3 and 4 mitochondrial respiration using glutamate as substrate were increased in cardiogenic shock, whereas respiratory control ratio (RCR) and ADP/O values were unaffected indicating well-coupled and efficient respiration. Cardiac interfibrillar (IFM) and subsarcolemmal (SSM) mitochondrial respiration was unaffected. Complex 2-dependent mitochondrial respiration using succinate as substrate demonstrates a similar tendency. State 2, 3 and 4 respiratory rates are presented as pmol O2/min/IU citrate synthase. The data are presented as median±range.</p>‡<p>p<0.05 between groups.</p><p>Mitochondrial Respiratory Parameters.</p
