Effects of resveratrol on radioiodine uptake by the thyroid gland <i>in vivo</i>.

<p>Male Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with the control vehicle (Control, n = 6) or with 50 mg/kg/day resveratrol i.p. (Resv, n = 6), for 14 days. On the last day of treatment, the animals received [¹²⁵I]-NaI (185 kBq i.p., each) 24 h prior to sacrifice. Their thyroids were removed and weighed, with their associated radioactivity (RAIU) determined in a gamma counter. Data (from iodide uptake per thyroid weight) are normalized means ±SD (control vehicle, 100%). *, p<0.05.
