Inhibition of AMPK eliminates Xn- and Xc-induced glucose uptake.

<p>(a) L6 myotubes were pre-incubated with the AMPK chemical inhibitor, compound c, for 30 min and then treated with the indicated agents for 5 min at a 5 µM concentration. Data represent one of three independent experiments. (b) L6 myotubes were equilibrated in glucose-free Krebs-Henseleit buffer for 1 h and then incubated with the indicated agents, with or without pre-incubation with compound c for 30 min. 2-Deoxy [¹⁴C] glucose uptake was measured, in the <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0108771#s2" target="_blank">Materials and Methods</a>.
