<p>Methods</p> <p>A transect measuring tape was used to make a line from the edge of the woodlot to the centre of the woodlot. 10 adult trees were randomly selected along this line made by the transect measuring tape. Each adult tree (a) was paired with the tree that was the closest to it (b), and each pair was given a number from 1-10. Each tree circumference at breast height was measured in centimeters using the transect, from which the diameter at breast height was later found using the equation d=C/π. The transect was then used to measure the distance between the pair of trees in centimeters. Lastly, the researcher evaluated each trees’ condition after measuring its circumference by using a scale of 0-2, where 0 = dead, 1 = living, and ...
